Tokyo Tirelire

In the beggining it was said that Romain and I were going out for a late afternoon drink at Le Plaza Athénée, on avenue Montaigne, because it's something we would like to do for a long time now (come on, a herbal tea at the bar is only 15 bucks, it s a treat we all can afford).

But in the meantime we decided to stop at La Samaritaine to give a look at their new so called "japan exhibition": Hello Tokyo. In our defense I would say that the billboards in the subway are rather funny and promising. So here we went. IT WAS SO FUCKING DECEIPTFUL !! You know I love gadgets, colourful prints, strange foods and exotic bright drink. And tea. So I was really their target because I am really ready to spend some money on that kind of stuff. But I hate when people try to make a fool of you without the least subtle effort to hide it : no picture exhibition, no gigantic sculpture, no contemporean art of any sort, except if you make merchandising an art form, or mangas or sushi stand, or just SOMETHING !!! It was empty, it was dull, everything was on sale, and now the worse of it all : NOTHING WAS NEW !! The teas were from Mariage Freres, and most of the items on sale were already seens before. I felt spoilt. I am still angry now.

The good thing is that all this take place in the main building at La Samaritaine and that the place is just plain art déco beauty. They have a good interior decoration floor. Trying some couch with Romain  for the one day when we ll have our own beautiful two bedroom appartment (so that he can bring girls back home and that I can bring  boys back home), a salesperson came to see us and did what nobody should do when Romain and I have time : he mistaken us for a gay couple and he tried to sell us a couch. We were in fire, there is nothing that we like more than to play the nice gay couple, quarelling out loud on details for hours, the people at Le Palais des Thés witnessed it before. Each one playing its part, we asked for tons of details, trying to decide which fabric would be the softest, what colour would fit the best our delicate interior, and what about the pets (we have fishes but really, does it matter for a couch ?) etc. It's always a lot of fun. This time it was a boy but it s way way better when it s a girl because Romain (who is, may I remind it to you my dear reader, totally straight), flirt outreageously with her, confusing her totally. That really is the best.

Outside the building a band played some well known tunes and as the sun was going down, the Eiffel tower seemed transparent and light.

In the end we did not go to Le Plaza, we ate some "flan" from Monoprix on rue de Rennes after we visited some galleries on the left bank. The weather was cold and my pants were too light for the wind.  When we tried to go to Le Georges it was pas 7 pm and past this time, you cannot have a drink there anymore. Too bad, we were in the mood for some Cosmos. So we finished the afternoon at Café La Fusée with a glass of Vieille Vignes, and, as usual, it was perfect.
