L' Encens En Flammes
Sunday in the country :cured meats, roasted chicken and seasonned potatoes, cheese, apple "croustade", coffee, armagnac.
The weather is nasty so we needed that. Thanks mum.
We spent a large part of the afternoon (or should I stay, what was left of it) at the abbey nearby. I love this place, it is extremely quiet and the main church is filled with incense smoke. The best of it being the effect of modern stained glasses in this otherwise totally sober white place .Their colors go from red on the south side to blue on the north side, on both side these colors fade from dark to pale until they blend in a soft yellowish white from the end of the church to above the altar.
The community of Sainte Marie du Désert has of course a fantabulous gift shop (the brothers make themselves a variety of things from soaps to deer "pâté") and to my surprise, a well documented website (in french), as well as an online shop (in association with other abbeys apparently).
Back at the house the cat is ready for her trip bach home with my parents, note how nice is the light inside her travel box.
One more log in the fire, tonigh we stay over here to be ready early tomorrow for the ultimate experience : Samatan's famous "Marché au Gras".
Yummy !
